Decluttering Your Space

We all have clutter. It tends to sneak up on you. You get a gift you really have no use for, or you find a random screw somewhere. It's poking unused items in closets and drawers, never to be seen again but taking up space. Then it's storing old clothes, knick-knacks.....after a while it tends to pile up and suddenly there's no more room left. Clutter can be overwhelming, but letting go of items can be difficult for some people. If you wish to have a clutter-free home, start small. Set a weekly goal for yourself of decluttering one room or area of your home, and then stick to it. Start by tackling that overstuffed hallway closet. You know, the one that looks like Monica's hall closet on the TV show Friends (be honest, we all know that closet). Or that overflowing "junk" drawer in the kitchen where every random thing somehow ends up because you just don't know where it should go. Rate each item in order of importance. Is it something used regularly? Do you actually have a need for that specific item? When was the last time you actually wore those jeans from 30 years ago? Ask yourself, can this item be used by a friend or family member, or can it go for donation? Then, give, throw away, or donate. Organize what's left, put it where it should go. Before you know it, you'll be done and rewarded with a fresh, uncluttered space.
