Dangers of Mold

Do you have a weird, musty smell in your home? Unexplained illness, respiratory illness, asthma attacks, or skin rashes and fatigue? It could be hidden mold.

Mold is insidious and sometimes difficult to detect. Exposure to certain types of mold can cause a myriad of health problems in people. If you have constant problems with allergies, skin rashes, respiratory problems, or generalized fatigue, it might be worth consulting a professional to check your home for hidden mold. Mold has been around for millennia. It tends to grow where there is moisture and darkness and is common after a flooding event. It can be inside or outside. Often it is brought into the home on clothes and shoes. It can grow on wood, paper, cardboard, and ceiling tiles, in carpet, drywall, and fabric. Be mindful of damp areas in and around the home and repair leaks as soon as possible. If your carpet becomes saturated with water and cannot be dried quickly, it must be removed. Keep the humidity level in the home low and be sure there is good air flow. If mold is found, it must be treated as quickly as possible. Undetected mold in the home can be a health hazard.
